Product Description
Graco MetroLite Travel System Wouldn't it be nice to have an ultra light, super smart stroller/car seat system...of course it would, and Graco has obliged with the MetroLite Travel System. The Graco MetroLite is one of the top strollers on the market. The SnugRide Infant Car Seat is possibly the safest car seat on the road. The Graco MetroLite Stroller features an aluminum frame which combines the sturdiness of a standard sized stroller with the comfort and convenience of a lightweight stroller. Surprisingly, it still weighs in at less than 20 lbs., but still has all of the features of a standard stroller. One of the outstanding features on this Graco stroller is the lower & storage basket. All that has to be done to lower the basket is to press down on the lowering bar. With the easy, one hand fold, setup and breakdown are a snap. For your newborn between 5 and 22 lbs. and less than 29", Graco's main focus is safety. A removable, infant head support cradles your baby's head and neck. The revolutionary EPS energy absorbing foam will cushion and support your child in case of an accident. Graco's 5-point harness provides a secure fit. It is LATCH equipped for easy, quality installation, and made fool proof with the easy-to-read level indicator. Graco's been listening and they have delivered. The Graco MetroLite Travel System is everything one looks for.

3 out of 5 stars Like the carseat more than the stroller   June 28, 2010

As first time parents we really didn't know what to get in a stroller or carseat so we decided on the travel system. We have the Birkshire pattern, which I don't see on Amazon. But it's a very nice neutral pattern. There are some good and bad aspects of both.
Stroller-
Pro: Fits into the trunk of a Toyota Corolla. When using the carseat on the stroller, you can completely cover up the baby because both the stroller and the carseat have a canopy. Big storage basket.
Cons: It's a little big and hard to maneuver in tight spaces, such as a small store. The cupholders are useless. You can't put a bottle in because the cup holders are too shallow. You can't fit a sippy cup because the cupholders are too small.

Carseat-
Pros: Safety, longer time rear-facing. FYI- our baby is on the smaller side and we were able to use it until she was almost 16 months. She outgrew the length requirement before the weight requirement. Adjustable (incline) base.
Cons: When you go to restaurants and flip over the high chair to put in the carseat, 9 times out of 10, the carseat doesn't fit (it's too big). Baby can get overheated, but I think that is with all carseats.

Looking back it would have been better if we got the car seat and and some type of stroller frame. Then once the baby can sit on her own, move onto a compact umbrella stroller. In my opinion, if you're spending around $250 for a travel system, it should be friendly to baby accessories as well as the parents (see cons)

1 out of 5 stars Baby's neck at horrible angle when car seat in stroller   May 10, 2010
Vegetable (Natick, MA)
When the car seat is used in the stroller, the baby's neck is inclined way to much. As soon as we put our daughter in car seat, then the car seat in the stroller, her little head lurched forward into her chest and there was no way to get it propped up other than building an elaborate system of towels and blankets. It's terrible to look at and we hate putting her in it. We've had to go out and buy one of those frame strollers for the car seat.

For that reason, I would not recommend this model.

4 out of 5 stars New mom to be-light weight is better for me   August 31, 2009

I cannot really say much about this metrolite travel system. I wanted something light and after reading over many reviews and checking out another metrolite (Sterling) in Babies R Us, I decided on the metrolite. I wanted the Quattro Travel System-Deco, but it was bigger and too heavy for me. I like the neutral color of this set because I'm having a boy, and later on can still use it if I have a girl. It was easy to set up. So far I cannot make much comments on it, but it is what it is. I already knew how it would look and feel before ordering it. The material is easy to clean, but is not fabric or soft like some other set, but I can always add something soft in it, no biggie. Now, I just have to test it out when my baby arrives around thanksgiving. If you want something light weight, look into Graco metrolite. And oh, it is so easy to fold and unfold. After I have my baby, if I have time, I will write another review. Best of luck!

4 out of 5 stars Great stroller   July 21, 2009

I don't agree with the other posts at all!!!
I have this stroller, I tired it out at the store before we purchased it, its super light, easy to maneuver one handed and easy to put together. The fabric may not be soft, but you won't need to put your child in the fabric part till they are much older anyway and thats what clothes are for... to keep them soft!
The snug ride car seat snaps in and out very easy!
This is a great stroller system!

3 out of 5 stars Fabric is really bad   June 26, 2009

But so are all Metrolites. If you want a lightweight one, you may have to live with this. People suggest putting some other absorbent material on top that is comfy and does not overheat the baby on summer days.
The other thing to note with these is that you cannot make them into a "bassinet" by closing the bottom flap - there is no such flap. Some people also complain about the ease of sliding the car seat in and out - I don't see that problem with ours at least.
