Wasn't the best... February 1, 2010 vuhoo (Chantilly, VA) We bought this monitor because it was digital and wouldn't interfere with other monitors in our neighborhood. We've had it for 2.5 yrs and have had to reset it maybe once a month. The picture quality isn't the best either. We used it for our toddler, who doesn't need much monitoring, and it was good enough for us but I wouldn't recommend this for a newborn. After 2.5yrs, we couldn't keep the handheld monitor charged because the connection is loose. It's pretty much useless to us now. This was our 4th monitor so it wasn't the worse but certainly wasn't the best...especially with the expensive price tag.
Basic video monitor, Could be better. June 10, 2009 J. Tong (Savannah, GA) This monitor uses the 2.4ghz range, but still has a pretty short range for the audio, and even shorter range for the video.
Video quality is reasonable, a bit washed out. The NIGHT video is not very good with range (maybe 6 feet visible range), and it has brightish RED leds that shines at the child and I can see that creeping some kids out. An IR LED for night time does NOT need to be visible to the child.
Video drops out regularly with a Ding!Ding! warning which gets pretty annoying over time when you are at the range of the video, which in our house is about 45 feet (2 rooms). Audio reception is almost twice that.
Even in the adjacent room, connection drops out regularly through the night which causes the 'DING DING' waking us up.
The audio is reasonable, but wierd because there is a 2 second delay, Not because we care that there is a 2 second delay, but we can just hear the original cry and then the monitor echoes it which is a pretty creepy effect at night.
One more annoyance is that the sound controls are not very gradiated. Even on the quietest setting it's too loud for a quiet room and every snort gets amplified. We duct taped the speaker hole and that helped.
Battery time for us is about 2-3 hours with occasional video. Enough for a nap, but you'll want to leave it plugged in otherwise.
The parent unit IS amazingly portable, however the drawback is that it's not built nearly as robustly as other graco products. A minor drop from our toddler's hands popped out the OLED screen cover. Another got the video all wacky.
I wouldn't recommend it for retail price, Check out the SUMMER brand video products, but in a pinch it'll do if you can find it on clearance.
Probably will return this . . . October 23, 2008 Emell (Boston, MA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product basically does what I want - allows me to watch/hear my sleeping child w/o ever having to go into her room to check on her. But I feel it should have much better functionality.
I have the same complaints as many of the others here. The image is kind of crappy; the sound quality is rotten (my 2 yr old usu talks to herself b4 falling asleep, and I cannot understand very much of what she is saying with this thing, and I hate to miss her charming conversations with herself. The older Sony "sound only" monitor I have gives us really crisp audio.) The 2 second delay between "real time" sound and motion and what you get on the display is really annoying to me. And I feel I deserve a longer battery life when the parent unit is fully charged. The CS people at the Graco 800 # told me 4 hours, but that has NOT been my experience. I say 2.5-3, max. The CS person with whom I spoke, BTW, seemed really disinterested in my issues, almost as if she had heard it all a hundred times before . . . I'm sure she has.
terrible reception, quality, and unreliable October 3, 2008 N. Corrieri (USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
we tried this and 3 others. they all were terrible. Bought a summer version that finally worked.
the graco would rarely work due to whatever cause.. interference??
the range was terrible. 1 floor below = static. that had to have been 20' MAX through a floor and it wouldnt work.
Plus, for some reason it would just lose signal and turn off in the middle of the night. Infrared was a joke, small area..
Garbage for something at this price range. Go with the summer, it was a little bulkier, but it has worked (aside from battery life on that 1 sucking bigtime).
smart portable and zoom is good June 22, 2008 Quang Tran (Fairfield, Ca United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I didn't have any of the problems that others have reported. pic quality is a about a 7 of 10 compare to a $400 lorex unit so I don't see a negative here. range is as good as the expensive lorex that I also own at about 150 feet throughout my house of 2 stories. zoom has better pic quality than full view which is strange for digital units. design is smart and light. others might have set the timer to turn the unit of without knowing. please read the manual if you are not sure. I didn't have to refer to the manual because the unit itself is so simple to use.
