Brilliant, easy-to-clean design July 8, 2010 Xander I cannot say enough about how great this high chair is. When it comes down to it what you really want from a high chair is that it is attractive enough to look at, easy to use, tip resistant, and EASY TO CLEAN. This chair does all of the above. I was considering either this or the Eddie Bauer equivalent. After using this for a month I saw the used EB "cousin" at my friend's house. With EB (and every other cute wooden chair I have ever seen), food bits collect at the base of each little spindle. The Graco chair, however has the decorative spindles/slats as well, but at the bottom they have a 1 1/2 inch border which means that most food collects at the bottom of the seat along a solid piece of wood rather than in between many spindles. All it takes is one wipe along the seam. We hardly ever have to work the cloth between any spindles. Also, the safety stick that comes down between your baby's legs is not attached to the seat. It is attached to the tray instead. This means that when you are sweeping away food it doesn't collect around anything - it just sweeps right into your hand. There is about a 1/2 clearance for this.
I must add that we have never used the cloth padding. I am talking about the cleaning experience of cleaning with just the bare, beautiful wood. (This is our second chair for our second baby. They do fine with out the nuisance and mess of padding!)
The plastic tray is very handy for cleaning as well. I love the cup holder in it as well (no cup holder if you use the wooden tray directly - gives you options).
I agree with the other reviewers that the chair's height will not work at the average table as a converted toddler seat. We don't have any high tables or counters to see if it would convert to a bar stool so I'm no help there.
One reviewer stated that the safety bar between the child's legs is too far back. I am not sure about this, however our kids are on the smaller side. When I put my 30 pound 3 year old in the chair to see how she fit the seating space was a little shallow but she did fit and didn't seem to be uncomfortable. A larger 3 year old would definitely need the safety bar removed (which is how you'd convert it to a toddler seat anyway). Our younger babe is 15 months. He is a 22 pound, 31 inch little guy and he fits in there great. I hope this helps.
P.S. Did I mention that this chair is BEAUTIFUL!? The design and the richness of the wooden stain are just beautiful.
don't buy it: baby can easily remove plastic tray and throw it on floor May 21, 2010 L. Allen I liked the looks of this highchair until baby, at 12 months, found out how easy it is to lift off the plastic tray and throw it (loaded with food) on the floor. The mess on the floor cancels out the good looks of the chair. Buy something else.
high chair May 11, 2010 Trudy Scott (Blackfoot, ID) Very sturdy would recommend to anyone. Purchased for my grandchildren & they love the chair. Very easy to put together and very easy to clean!!! Love it!!
Great looking and quality! March 11, 2010 Pink (USA) We are absolutely delighted with this high chair! The dark wood stain goes perfectly with our dining set. It's definitely the best looking and well made high chair we've found. It is very sturdy and it's not an eye sore like other ugly highchairs out there. We love the plastic cover for the table too! We can just wash or wipe off after every use, so that we can keep it clean at all times. The padding is plush enough for baby's comfort and it covers the back of the chair as well, so that she won't hit her head. I'm sure that this chair will last for a long time and we will be able to use it with few more children for future use.
Great chair...sturdy and will last a long time February 16, 2010 H. Schultz (Lubbock, TX) My only complaint with this chair is that the pad is difficult to just wipe-clean...you'll have to pull it off and wash it fairly often...which isn't hard to do, so it's no big deal.
